Yes. Mar de Estrellas is an officially licensed educational centre in the Valencian Region and is also accredited by WASC (the Western Association of Schools and Colleges), one of the world's leading international accreditation bodies.
This dual recognition reflects our commitment to maintaining high educational standards while delivering an authentic Montessori education. Our programmes cover the full educational journey from early childhood through adolescence, providing families with a recognised and internationally respected educational pathway.

Children transition to Montessori environments every year and adapt remarkably well.
During the first weeks, our guides take time to understand each child's academic level, interests and individual needs. We provide personalised support to help them become familiar with the Montessori environment, materials and routines.
For younger children, the transition is usually very natural. For older students, an important consideration is language: English is the working language throughout the school, so children joining the Primary and Secondary programmes should have sufficient English skills to participate confidently in daily activities and lessons.
Some children adapt immediately, while others need a little more time to become comfortable with the greater independence and responsibility that Montessori offers. Our experience shows that children quickly gain confidence and begin to thrive in an environment where learning is active, meaningful and tailored to their development.

Assessment in Montessori looks very different from traditional education.
Rather than relying primarily on tests and grades, our guides continuously observe each child's progress, interests, strengths and areas for development. We evaluate both academic growth and the development of important life skills such as independence, concentration, responsibility, collaboration and problem-solving.
Regular meetings and progress reports help families understand their child's development and achievements.
-
We believe that children need time outside school to rest, play, spend time with family, pursue personal interests and enjoy childhood.
For this reason, there is no traditional homework.
As children grow older, they may engage in research projects, reading, practical activities or independent work that extends naturally from their interests and classroom learning. The focus is always on meaningful learning rather than repetitive tasks.
-
Mar de Estrellas is intentionally a small school where every child is known, supported and valued as an individual.
We maintain exceptionally low student-to-guide ratios, allowing for personalised attention and close relationships. In our Infant Community, the ratio is approximately 1 adult for every 6 children. In Children's House and Primary, the ratio is typically around 1 adult for every 12 children.
This enables our guides to closely observe each child's development, provide individualised support and create a calm, nurturing environment where every child can flourish.
One of the things families appreciate most about Mar de Estrellas is the strong sense of community and the individual attention each child receives.
-
English is the primary language of communication throughout the school and forms a natural part of daily life.
Children are immersed in English through conversations, lessons, projects and interactions with guides and classmates. This allows both native and non-native speakers to develop confidence and fluency in a meaningful and authentic way.
Because language is learned through real communication rather than isolated lessons, children develop strong English skills while also maintaining and developing their home languages.
Families considering entry into the Primary or Secondary programmes should note that English is the working language of the school. Older children joining the community are therefore expected to have an appropriate level of English to fully participate in classroom activities and discussions.
